Moms Who Inspire – February

Article by Technology Coordinator, Jessica Margolin

We’re back with our monthly Moms Who Inspire feature! For February, we’re featuring Carmen Angelica Pangelinan a mom of three who is a vibrant, creative multitasker who juggles her roles as a kids’ party entertainer with ease. She brings joy through face painting, character dress-up, and balloon artistry, captivating children’s imaginations with her colorful creations. Alongside her busy schedule, she selflessly devotes her time to serving her community as an active member of the Mothers of Brentwood non-profit organization, embodying compassion and dedication in all aspects of her life.

Tell me about your family…

I am a mother of three. Daughter, 11 years old, who is very much into theater. I have a
nine-year-old son and a newborn boy, eight months. My husband was my apartment neighbor in
Santa Rosa and I wrote him a love letter and we’ve been married since 2010.

What brought you to Brentwood?
We moved to Brentwood because my sister was buying a house out here. Unfortunately, she
has moved since.

What made you join the MOB?
I joined the mob for mother interactions and mom’s night out. One of the neighbors on my
block absolutely loves the mob and raved about it, so of course I joined.

What is your favorite MOB event you have attended and why?
There are so many mob events on which I love… the ongoing monthly social of Bunco is what I
always look forward to. The Mother’s Day event was so fabulous and elegant that I honestly
wish my wedding was half as near as nice!

Tell me about becoming a mom
Becoming a mom was something I always wanted. I was one of those young hopeless
romantics that listened to Celine Dion. I didn’t put too much thought in what career I would have,
only wished that I would have a husband that adored me and children to love.
My oldest is almost 12 years old. And then I have my middle, who is nine and I started all over
again.

Tell me what got you into doing parties and becoming the best DIY
maker?What inspired you?

I started working at parties in my college years. First, I became an entertainer with Firepixie
company (based out of Fairfield).
When we moved from Santa Rosa to Paso Robles, I started at my own company 2014-2020.
When I moved from Paso Robles to Brentwood I was fortunate to be able to still run my
company in Paso Robles, with one of the entertainers that I trained, along with starting up a
whole new clientele here in Brentwood.
I was a theater kid… I love the spotlight. From performing in front of my grandparents to now
performing infront of children and their families. Definitely not a job or business for an introvert.
As far as crafting, that runs in my family. My mom paints with acrylic, my sister is even more
artistic than me, my dad and grandfather were painters as well.My favorite activity in my line of work is face painting. I want to paint everything—-

How do you make it all work?
My husband and I both have strong work ethic. We respect and admire that from each other. I
hold down the fort during the week, and my husband watches the children on the weekends
while I am performing at parties. I couldn’t do this job without his willingness to let me work
every weekend.

What’s the biggest surprise of motherhood?
The biggest surprise for us was the feeling of wanting to start all over again. Here we are with a
9 year gap! It’s amazing to see your older children be the best big sister and brother.

What do you always carry in your purse?
In my purse I always have a check book, stamps, my 5 lb wallet, business cards, and hopefully I
remembered to bring my travel phone charger because my phone is always dying.
I want to learn to travel with less… my purse it too heavy.

Favorite restaurant in Brentwood?
My favorite restaurant in Brentwood is Attraversiamo!
Literally have made my tastebuds feel like they were in a roller coaster. Flavors and
combinations I was not familiar with! Worth every cent spent!
